The first stem cell therapy bank would be established in the All India Institute of Medical Science, Bhopal. The Central Health Ministry has given approval for 20 crore rupees in the budget. The Central Health Ministry has asked for detailed project report on stem cell bank by the end of November 2015 so that stem cell could be started within 2 years deadline.
AIMS has got super specialty departments for the treatment for serious diseases. Though presently only 4 departments are functioning but the rest 11 departments would start working by next year. Stem cells therapy would be used for the 10% of the diseases that are presently not curable. The Ministry has informed that in order to start treatment through stem cell therapy, a committee would be formed comprising of heads of the pathology, microbiology and 4 others departments and would include experts on the stem cell. The recruitment of experts would be finalized by next year.
The Medical Superintendent AIMS, Dr. K C Tomaria had sent the proposal of stem cell therapy bank to the health Ministrywhich has now been approved. He further confirmed that DPR would start soon.
